Black Peoples Union has a variety of membership and supporting roles for our mob and allies.
Before joining however, there are a few things that should be considered!
We have high expectations of all our members! If you don’t think these expectations are for you, we would still love to have your support as a friend and supporter of Black Peoples Union.
Our members are expected to engage in organising meetings and their connected actions regularly and to contribute to plans, discussions and actions. Our members are expected to also regularly engage in our classes on revolutionary history and theories; it is only through keeping our minds sharp and building in-depth knowledge of our history, our political and economic conditions, and the best way to combat these oppressive colonial and capitalist systems that we can understand how change will come about - we must outsmart our enemy if we stand any chance of defeating them!
Our members are expected to carry strong self-discipline - it is only through our strict self-discipline that we can put our theory into practice and actually bring about change!
Above all, our members are expected to support each other, to lift each other up, and to fight for each other! We can never make any kind of impact alone, but together as one we can achieve anything!
General Membership - is exclusively limited to First Nations people Indigenous to so-called Australia.
Associate Membership - is open to our allies and supporters from non-Indigenous backgrounds.
Friend of the Union - for people who are interested in lending their support and staying up to date with BPU initiatives and events but don’t have the time to commit to membership.
